AMERICA UNDER ATTACK: Plague of Large Super-Cell Tornadoes and Storms Swarm the Heartland - Twisters Rips Through Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama and Tennessee; Level 10 TORCON Warning of Severe Weather Outbreak Issued For the Midwest and South! UPDATE: WIPED OUT - Indiana Town "Completely Gone" After Tornado! UPDATE: Enormous Outbreak of Tornadoes - Death Toll Rises to 28!

Multiple tornadoes tore paths across Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana on Friday, leaving an undetermined number of people injured, and homes and businesses destroyed, emergency officials and forecasters said.  A “very large super-cell” of tornadoes touched down in northern Alabama early in the day, damaging homes and a prison and leaving at least four people injured. In southern Tennessee, another twister ripped 20 homes off their foundation and submerged boats, officials said.

Tornadoes were reported to have caused severe damage around the Henrysville area in southern Indiana. A spokesman for the Clark County Sheriff's Office told NBC News that Henrysville High School suffered damage. And the Weather Channel for only the second time issued a TORCON warning of 10 as multiple tornado-producing supercells headed across northern Kentucky – meaning forecasters at the channel believe there is a 100 percent chance of a tornado within 50 miles. The TORCON system was developed a few years ago, and the top warning was first used April 27, 2011, during the devastating tornado outbreak across the South. So far, no fatalities have been reported from the weather Friday. But there was “significant damage” to the Harrison-Ooltewah area, north of Chattanooga, Tenn., and an unknown number of people with severe and minor injuries, said Amy Maxwell, a spokeswoman for Hamilton County Emergency Services.  “At least 20 homes have been ripped off the foundation,” she told msnbc.com. “We do have crews having to go out on foot … because the roadways are blocked.”  The Island Cove Marina “got hit hard as well” but all people living there were accounted for, Maxwell said. A tweeted photo showed a jumble of boats and buildings. “We had one that touched down on April 27” last year, she said. “Unfortunately, we’re getting hit again. Seems like it’s starting to become a common thing. We hope that’s not the case.” - MSNBC.

UPDATE: WIPED OUT - Indiana Town "Completely Gone" After Tornado!

Powerful storms stretching from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes wrecked two Indiana towns and killed at least eight people Friday as the system tore roofs off schools and homes, flattened a fire station, flipped over tractor-trailer trucks and damaged a maximum security prison. It was the second deadly tornado outbreak this week.
Tornadoes have left widespread damage in southern Indiana and a sheriff's official says at least one town of about 1,900 people is "completely gone."  National Weather Service coordinator Bill Whitlock there's "extreme damage" in the area of Henryville, a town of about 3,000 people just north of the Kentucky border. Destruction can be seen for miles and a school district spokeswoman says heavy damage has been reported at Henryville High school. Clark County Sheriff's Department Maj. Chuck Adams says the nearby town of Marysville is "completely gone." Indiana Department of Homeland Security spokesman John Erickson says there are injuries but no immediate reports of fatalities. Officials say they've had difficulty confirming reports due to downed power and telephone lines. - Huffington Post.

UPDATE: Enormous Outbreak of Tornadoes - Death Toll Rises to 28!
A devastating storm system moved across the United States on Friday, spawning a slew of tornadoes that contributed to at least 28 fatalities in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. National Weather Service meteorologist John Gordon reported Friday afternoon the agency had about "half a dozen reports of tornadoes on the ground," as well as reports of "significant damage" -- making his comments before some of the worst twisters were reported. "This is an enormous outbreak that's going on right now across Kentucky and the South," Gordon said. "It's crazy. It's just nuts right here." Southern Indiana was particularly hard hit, with Indiana Department of Homeland Security spokesman John Erickson saying three had died in Jefferson County as a result. Sgt. Rod Russell with the Indiana State Police said later that three people also were killed in Scott County.

In addition, Emergency Management Director Leslie Cavanaugh of Clark County -- which has about 110,000 people -- reported one death. Sheriff's Department Maj. Chuck Adams added that a man was found dead in his car several miles outside Henryville. "We've got total devastation in the north-ceindntral part of the county (and) widespread damage from the west to the east," added Adams. "We are inundated with calls." At least 15 people were killed across Indiana, authorities said. Aerial footage from CNN affiliate WLKY showed structures torn to shreds and large swaths of trees knocked down in Henryville, about 20 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky. Other aerial images showed similar devastation in St. Paul, Indiana. Several officials -- including Jeffersonville, Indiana, Mayor Mike Moore, U.S. Sen. Dan Coats and Adams -- indicated that the town of Marysville suffered especially significant damage. Cavanaugh also said that the local high school, Henryville Junior-Senior High School, had been "demolished." - CNN.

WORLD WAR III: Countdown to Armageddon - War Is On; Russia Green-Lights Invasion; Abandons Iran and Syria?!

Russia turns its back on Iran and Syria, giving the green light for a military invasion while freezing Iran embassy accounts. Russia has backed away from is hardline stance of standing behind Iran and Syria against a western military invasion, following weeks of warnings to respect the sovereignty of those nations.

Iran’s state TV is reporting that Russian has frozen Iranian bank accounts at the same time Russian officials change their stance on Syria, back the UN and saying they will not intervene against a military invasion. Press TV quotes Russia foreign ministry spokesman saying the freezing of the accounts may be due to Russia bowing to EU sanctions against Iran, but more than likely western forces have negotiated a deal with Russia behind the scenes to get their approval to sack Syria and Russia. Not only has Russia taken an about face from their hardline stance of telling the US and its allies to keep their hand off Iran,  they are now openly giving the go ahead for a military invasion of Syria calling the government the ‘Assad Titanic’ while referring to him  as a dead man who will soon be in a coffin. With Russia now abandoning Iran and Syria,  the US can work on the prerequisites of invading Iran – taking out Syria.

Here’s a round up of the news: Bloomberg reports Russia has announced backing the UN stance on Syria while quoting Russia’s leaders as referring to the Assad leadership as the “Titanic” and calling Assad a dead man.
Syria Reported to Take Homs on Rebels’ Retreat as Russia Backs UN Stance - Hours earlier, the United Nations Security Council issued its first unified statement on Syria in seven months, demanding that President Bashar al-Assad allow access for humanitarian aid. The Security Council statement was backed by Russia, possibly signaling a shift from its steady defense of Assad. Russia Is Key - Russia’s stance on Syria is “a key element of how this goes forward,” said Jeffrey Feltman, the U.S. assistant secretary of state for Near East affairs. The Russians “can use their influence inside Syria to be part of the solution,” he said. ‘The Assad Titanic’ - “It seems to us that Russia is not going to preserve those interests that it deems important if it rides the Assad Titanic all the way to the bottom of the Mediterranean,” he said. Source: Bloomberg

Russia’s Putin backs away from Syria’s Assad - Russia has made it clear that it will not be able to stop other countries from launching a military intervention if they try to do it without UN approval.  Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said Friday that Russia will not provide any kind of military assistance to Syria in such a situation. EXTREME WEATHER: Driest Winter Since 1940s Raises Red Flags in Spain!

At the beginning of 2011, water levels in Spain's reservoirs reached an average of 77.83% of total capacity. However, the lack of rain last year has now reduced the average to 62.01%.

A picture taken on March 1, shows the Portodemouros reservoir, near the village of Brocos, Spain.
The droughts that Spain experiences year on year are one of the main concerns of agricultural workers who use up to 80% of a reservoir's water for their crops.

A new study at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has combined recorded data with the results from state-of-the-art regional climate change models to calculate the maximum length of droughts in detail.

The results, which have been applied to the Segura river basin, show how "drought periods since the 1980s onwards have notably intensified," according to Sandra Garcia Galiano, one of the authors of the study. - MSNBC.

JAPAN MEGA-DISASTER: 1,331 Deaths Related to March 2011 Disaster - Recognized in 5 Prefectures in Japan!

The number of deaths officially recognized as related to the March 2011 disaster, such as those resulting from the stresses of living in evacuation shelters, totaled 1,331 in five prefectures, exceeding the 921 recorded in Hyogo and Osaka prefectures after the Great Hanshin Earthquake in January 1995, a Kyodo News survey found Friday.

A woman walks through the ruins of her home, which was destroyed by the March 11 tsunami,
near the waterfront in Minamisanriku, Miyagi Prefecture.
The total breaks down to 621 in Fukushima, 554 in Miyagi, 133 in Iwate, 22 in Ibaraki and one in Saitama, according to data collected by Kyodo from the five prefectural governments and municipal governments in the prefectures between February and March. The total includes a large number of elderly people who died of aspiration pneumonia as well as sudden deaths and suicides. A man in Saitama died as a result of a power outage following the earthquake.

Local governments provide condolence money to bereaved relatives when deaths are recognized as disaster related. But as applications have been screened without uniform criteria set by the central government, which merely informed local governments of the standards adopted by the Nagaoka city office in Niigata Prefecture following the Niigata Chuetsu Earthquake in October 2004, the survey found a divergence in the recognition of disaster-related deaths. For example, 90 percent of applications were accepted by the Iwate prefectural government, while 60 percent were accepted in Miyagi Prefecture. - MDN.
