MAJOR GLOBAL ALERT: World's Oceans In 'Shocking' Decline!

The oceans are in a worse state than previously suspected, according to an expert panel of scientists.

In a new report, they warn that ocean life is "at high risk of entering a phase of extinction of marine species unprecedented in human history". They conclude that issues such as over-fishing, pollution and climate change are acting together in ways that have not previously been recognised. The impacts, they say, are already affecting humanity.

The panel was convened by the International Programme on the State of the Ocean (IPSO), and brought together experts from different disciplines, including coral reef ecologists, toxicologists, and fisheries scientists. Its report will be formally released later this week. "The findings are shocking," said Alex Rogers, IPSO's scientific director and professor of conservation biology at Oxford University.

In addition to this, according to a huge new international study by 17 different science institutes has declared that the the global warming of sea waters is causing the biggest movement of marine species in two million years.

Among the changes recorded by scientists contributing to Project Clamer is the fact that huge blooms of a venomous warm-water species of jellyfish are massing in the North Atlantic.

The Pelagia noctiluca 'dominates in many areas and outbreaks have become an annual event, forcing the closing of beaches,' says the report. 'This form of jellyfish is a gluttonous predator of juvenile fish, so researchers consider its spread a harmful trend.' However, there was further bad news as the report also warned that the highly-venomous Portuguese Man O'War is also moving closer. Physalia physalis, a jellyfish-like creature usually found in subtropical waters, is more regularly being discovered in northern Atlantic waters. The research is to be published this year by Project Clamer, a major collaboration between 17 institutes on climate change and the oceans.

Among the other discoveries in worldwide waters, it was noted that aa 43-foot gray whale was spotted off the Israeli town of Herzliya last year. Scientists came to a startling conclusion that it must have wandered across the normally icebound route above Canada, where warm weather had briefly opened a clear channel three years earlier. On a microscopic level, scientists also have found plankton in the North Atlantic where it had not existed for at least 800,000 years.

PLANETARY TREMORS: Scientists - California Mega-Quake Imminent!

In a new comprehensive study of California's fault system, scientists and geologists are predicting that a mega-earthquake is imminent. A prediction that aligns perfectly with my ongoing look at the precursors to a coming monumental disaster in America.

Like a steaming kettle with the top on, pressure is building beneath the surface of California that could unleash a monster earthquake at any time. That's according to a new study from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Geologists say Southern California is long overdue for a huge earthquake that could unleash widespread damage. It all comes down to the Salton Sea, which lies to the east of San Diego. The Salton Sea lies directly on the San Andreas Fault and covers more than 350 square miles. A big earthquake has hit the lake bed about every 180 years.

But when officials started damming the Colorado River to reduce floods downstream (including in the Salton Sea), the moderate earthquakes stopped for the Salton. Sounds like a good thing, right? Not necessarily. Seismologists think the damming stopped moderate stress-relieving earthquakes on the Salton. Now, they fear the pressure is building and the area could be as many as 100 years overdue for a mega-quake quake, measuring 7.5 or larger. This sobering news comes just as a new poll is released that details Californians fears about earthquakes and other natural disasters.

UFO & EXTRATERRESTRIAL MEMES: Humanity Will Encounter Alien Civilizations Within Next Two Decades - Top Russian Astronomer?!

Two years ago, I highlighted the following story about several Bulgarian scientists, who claimed to be in touch with extraterrestrials:

Scientists from the Space Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) have been reported to be in touch with extraterrestrial beings. The Bulgarian Novinar Daily has reported that the Bulgarian scientists are currently working on deciphering pictograms which are said to have come in the form of the so called “crop circles” with which the aliens answered 30 questions posed by the BAS researchers.

“They are currently all around us, and are watching us all the time. They are not hostile towards us; rather, they want to help us but we have not grown enough in order to establish direct contact with them. They are ready to help us but we don’t know what to request from them in case of contact,” said Lachezar Filipov, Deputy Director of the Space Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, as quoted by the Novinar Daily. Filipov has said that even the Vatican had agreed that aliens existed. In his words, the humans are not going to be able to establish contact with the extraterrestrials through radio waves but through the power of thought.

He has stated that the human race was certainly going to have direct contact with the aliens in the next 10-15 years.
The deputy head of the Bulgarian Space Research Institute has also told the Novinar Daily that the extraterrestrials were critical of the people’s amoral behavior referring to the humans' interference in nature’s processes. Filipov’s team is reported to be analyzing the 150 new crop circles which appeared around the globe in the past year.

The publication of the Novinar Daily about the BAS researchers communicating with aliens comes in the midst of a controversy over the role, feasibility, and reform of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, which last week even led to the exchange of offensive remarks between Bulgaria's Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, and President Georgi Parvanov.

Today, the Daily Mail is reporting that a top Russian astronomer is predicting that humanity will encounter alien civilizations within the next two decades and that these beings will look just like humans.

Professor Andrei Finkelstein said that ten per cent of the known planets circling suns in the galaxy resemble Earth, and if water can be found on them, then so can life. He was speaking in Moscow at an international forum dedicated to the search for extraterrestrial life. 'The genesis of life is as inevitable as the formation of atoms... Life exists on other planets and we will find it within 20 years,' said Professor Finkelstein, director of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Applied Astronomy Institute.

As to the all-important question of how aliens will look, he added they would most likely resemble humans with two arms, two legs and a head. He said: 'They may have different colour skin, but even we have that.' Professor Finkelstein's institute runs a programme launched in the 1960s at the height of the Cold War space race to watch for and beam out radio signals to outer space. 'The whole time we have been searching for extraterrestrial civilisations, we have mainly been waiting for messages from space and not the other way,' he said. Professor Finkelstein's comments came on the same day a video emerged purporting to show 'a mothership and its fleet' zipping around in the clouds above a BBC building in central London.

They were caught on camera by a passer-by, and at least one other person who can be seen filming or taking pictures on his camera phone while the video is filmed. In the footage, the cameraman runs towards the corner of Bolsover Street and Clipstone Street where two other men are already standing, gazing skywards, one of whom is using a mobile phone camera. As the camera is pointed upwards, over the BBC's Yalding House, three white dots flash across the sky at great speed in a triangle formation, they are very quickly followed by two similar sized white dots. As the camera pans down again, two people on the opposite side of the road can also been seen watching events unfold above them. Then one larger, bright and more slow moving disc-shaped white object appears, circles around briefly and zips off.

I'm not sure what this is all about and what it really means, but it seems quite obvious that the disclosure meme is certainly accelerating into overdrive. Is this another step towards a full realization of the subtextual narrative? A contrived awakening from our alien dreaming? Or is this another pathway along the neuro-linguistic programming network?

Take from it what you will.

EARTH CHANGES: Huge Fire Swallows Up 750 Hectares In Croatia!

Some 750 hectares of pinewoods have burned down in the largest fire ever to devastate the area of Grebastica (Sibenik-Knin County) in Croatia.

The fire was caused by the negligence of a 56-year-old Zagreb resident who was doing some locksmith work in front of his holiday home. A spark started the flames that soon spread across an area of about seven square kilometres. Three Canadair vessels, two air tractors and 80 firemen helped put out the fire. Charges will be raised against the culprit, daily Jutarnji List writes. - Croatian Times.

FIRE IN THE SKY: 2011 MD Asteroid's Close Approach To Earth!

Flying through space this was the predicted journey of an asteroid as it came within cosmic kissing distance of the earth earlier yesterday.

The huge rock - named 2011 MD - hurtled within 7,600 miles of our planet at 6.14pm GMT. And in the video below, you can follow the journey it was predicted to make as it travelled across the sky. The footage provides a fascinating glimpse of how asteroids travel through the universe. In total the video shows the rock's 15-hour close encounter with earth at greatly increased speed. Staring at 1.10 in the clip, the earth appears to directly in the asteroid's flight path as it zooms through the sky. But the rock then flies towards the South Pole, travelling high above Antarctica and then the tip of South America before continuing on its journey across the universe. 2011 MD was potentially hazardous because its size - calculated from its brightness, this was estimated to be between 24ft and 55ft. That would have made an impressive explosion if it had hit our atmosphere, although it wouldn't have reached the ground. The asteroid is also large enough for medium-sized telescopes to be able to see it. - Daily Mail.

WEATHER ANOMALIES: UK Flash flood warning following Heatwave?!

Flash floods could hit parts of the United Kingdom as heavy showers follow the hottest day of the year so far, the Environment Agency and Met Office warned today.

The EA and Met Office warned communities in parts of southern, central and eastern England that they were at risk of flash flooding today and tomorrow. Heavy and thundery showers are expected to develop through this afternoon and into the evening which could result in localised flooding, the agencies said.

While the risk of flooding from rivers remains low, surface water flooding could occur as between 25mm and 50mm (1-2in) of rain may fall in some places. An Environment Agency spokesman said: "Environment Agency staff are on 24-hour alert and teams are monitoring river levels as the band of rain moves across the country. "The public are encouraged to tune in to local media for weather forecasts for their area and to keep an eye out for signs of surface water flooding."

WEATHER ANOMALIES: The Hottest Day In 5 Years In Britain!

Britain was in meltdown yesterday as the hottest day of the year caused chaos around the country. Sweltering 33 degree Celsius temperatures slowed down trains, melted pavements and set flowers on fire.

The searing heat caused a funeral parlour to catch fire, pavements to melt and delays on the railways. Weather officials issued health warnings as temperatures trumped the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and eastern deserts and reached a heady 33c. But already the unexpected heat has caused problems, with speed restrictions on a busy rail commuter route as the sun overheated rails and overhead power lines. Speeds were reduced from 90mph to 80mph - and were later expected to go down to 60mph - on the London to Norwich Great Eastern line run by National Express East Anglia.

And in Newhaven, East Sussex, a Co-op funeral store almost burned down when the sun reflected off a window. The sizzling light acted like a prism and set fire to flowers in the 28C heat. Firefighters took an hour putting out the fire after a member of the public spotted smoke in the shop window and raised the alarm. In Brighton, steps leading to the beach even started to melt. Brighton and Hove council said that recently laid asphalt had could not withstand the heat combined with heavy usage. Workmen closed off the steps leading to the beach, forcing hundreds of sun-seekers to find an alternative route to the sand. While the warm weather has baked the country today, forecasters predict that the temperatures could drop to a more seasonal 20c by the middle of the week.

EARTH CHANGES: Typhoon Sweeps Violently Through South Korea!

A section of an bridge in Chilgok, North Gyeongsang, built to commemorate fallen soldiers of the Korean War, collapsed Saturday after Typhoon Meari caused the Nakdong River to flood, undermining the bridge’s structural integrity.

Powerful Typhoon Meari drenched most of Korea yesterday with strong winds and torrential rain, killing two rescue workers and collapsing a bridge. Four people also were reported missing. According to the National Emergency Management Agency, a rescuer in Sangju, North Gyeongsang, died while trying to save an 80-year-old farmer swept away by a flooding stream near his rice paddy. Another rescue worker searching for a 3-year-old swept into a nearby river in Yeongwol, Gangwon, also apparently drowned. The farmer and the child are still missing. A 20-year-old man in Songgye Valley, Jecheon, North Chungcheong, and a 14-year-old middle school student in Cheongju were also missing after being caught in floodwaters. “Starting at 1 p.m., Typhoon Meari made its way across the Yellow Sea at a speed of 213 kilometers [132 miles] per hour, but did not hit the Korean Peninsula [directly],” Kim Hoe-choel, a forecaster at the Korea Meteorological Administration, said yesterday. “We expect Meari to move to the northwest of Korea, not striking the South Korean inland. It will pass Sinuiju in North Korea at about midnight and become weaker tomorrow. But Korea will still be within the typhoon’s 400-kilometer radius until [Monday] morning, so we must keep watching it.”

More rain was expected to fall in Korea, from 40 millimeters (1.5 inches) to 100 millimeters until this morning, although the winds will weaken, the state-run weather agency forecast. The typhoon will likely dissipate this morning 110 northeast of Kanggye in North Korea. According to NEMA, 46 domestic flights were canceled yesterday. However, after 6 p.m. most flights resumed. In addition, 118 ships were ordered to stay in port yesterday. No international flights were affected. About 580 hectares (1,433 acres) of farmland in Seocheon, South Chungcheong, and 45 vinyl greenhouses in Jincheon, North Chungcheong, were submerged by flooding streams. Three houses in Andong and Yecheon, North Gyeongsang, were damaged and four houses in Chungju, North Chungcheong, were submerged.
- Joongang Daily.
Strong wind and rain from a typhoon left at least seven people dead or missing, knocked out power and disrupted domestic flights in South Korea, officials said. Local and national officials said the dead included a rescue official in eastern South Korea who perished during a search-and-rescue operation and a student who was washed away in the southeast, Yonhap news agency reported Sunday night. Wind from Typhoon Meari briefly knocked out power for hundreds in the southern resort island of Jeju and caused flight cancellations at several airports. Officials reported no changes in international flights. The typhoon reached North Korean waters later Sunday, dumping more than 4 inches (10 centimeters) of rain in some areas, the North's official Korean Central News Agency reported. - Herald Extra.

MAJOR ALERT: Flood Berm Collapses at Nebraska Nuclear Plant!

A protective barrier which was holding back floodwater surrounding a nuclear power plant in Nebraska has collapsed, sending water gushing around key electrical equipment. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission confirmed the 2,000-foot berm at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station dramatically collapsed on Sunday.

A berm holding the flooded Missouri River back from a Nebraska nuclear power station collapsed early Sunday, but federal regulators said they were monitoring the situation and there was no danger. The Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station shut down in early April for refueling, and there is no water inside the plant, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said. Also, the river is not expected to rise higher than the level the plant was designed to handle. NRC spokesman Victor Dricks said the plant remains safe. The federal commission had inspectors at the plant 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Omaha when the 2,000-foot (610-meter) berm collapsed about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Water surrounded the auxiliary and containment buildings at the plant, it said in a statement. The Omaha Public Power District has said the complex will not be reactivated until the flooding subsides. Its spokesman, Jeff Hanson, said the berm wasn't critical to protecting the plant but a crew will look at whether it can be patched. "That was an additional layer of protection we put in," Hanson said. The berm's collapse didn't affect the reactor shutdown cooling or the spent fuel pool cooling, but the power supply was cut after water surrounded the main electrical transformers, the NRC said. Emergency generators powered the plant until an off-site power supply was connected Sunday afternoon, according to OPPD.
